1980's

On June 3, 1982, a new charter of incorporation in the name of Franklin Road Academy, Incorporated, instituted an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school with a Christian emphasis. A new headmaster, William L. Campbell, came on board in 1981, and in 1982-83, the school was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Classrooms were added, a program of computer science was developed, and through the generosity of an anonymous donor, funds were given for a Middle School facility on the second story of the Upper School building. In 1986-87 funds were donated for the renovation of a carriage house to become the Ambrose Art Studio. That same year, a capital campaign raised $3 million for a new Lower School facility. By fall of 1988, the new Danner Hall was dedicated.
