Dear Parents,
The technology department welcomes you to the FRA Tablet Program. The members of our team are delighted that your child will be attending FRA next year. We enjoy our role in helping students to grow and to learn as they utilize state-of-the-art technology each day throughout the FRA campus. Because the purchase of your child’s tablet computer comes quickly after the enrollment process is completed, we want to make sure that you have all of the information you need to make the purchase of the computer as easy as possible.
Each year, FRA compares several options from which we choose the machine that best meets our academic needs and offers the most advantageous pricing for our families. This year we have selected the Fujitsu T-4220 tablet. It weighs about five pounds and features an 80 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM, a 12.1” screen, and an internal CD/DVD -+RW drive. The machine has a FRA 3-year total protection warranty which includes hardware failure, accidental damage protection, and all school-licensed software. The package also includes an additional 120 GB ultra portable hard drive for backup purposes. The total price is $1,990.00 plus tax.
The purchasing period is from May 5th, 2008 to June 6th, 2008, in order to ensure summer arrival. You may purchase using the enclosed order form or visit our website for credit card purchases.
The enclosed tablet order form has several optional items available for purchase. The tablet includes a three year warranty and the FRA student replacement cycle is three years. The standard battery warranty is one year. Beyond one year, you may need to purchase a battery replacement. Fujitsu offers a two year battery extension at a reduced cost if you purchase this option in advance. Future items such as extra and replacement a/c adapters and stylus may be purchased at the FRA Technology Help Desk at any time.
We strongly recommend that you purchase a case for your tablet computer. The tablets will be shipped to FRA during the summer. We recommend that you purchase a case after you have received your tablet. The best case is one that suits your child and is comfortable. We will have examples during the summer deployment.
We ask that both parents and students attend a tablet orientation session during the summer. Tablets will be distributed during these sessions. During this session, we will provide additional details regarding the tablet program and we will introduce your child to the many ways that a tablet can be used in school and at home.
We look forward to the upcoming school year! The technology team is available to help you with all of your technology needs. If you have any questions, or if we may be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,
Mr. Steven Compton
