Girls Cinderella Season

The Lady Panthers almost pulled off another upset in the first round of the Class AA State Championships as they lost to York Institute 44-40. Up by eight points at halftime, FRA's shooting went stone cold (7 for 32 in the 2nd half including 0 for 8 on 3-pointers) and its lead evaporated as York finished the game with a 9-2 run that gave York the victory. Both teams played defenses that forced their opponents to shot from the perimeter. The ultimate difference was in the 3-point shots of which York converted 7 of 20 while FRA hit only 3 of 16.

Emily Canady (13) and Jacquelyn Chenger (11) led FRA scorers followed by Mattie Jackson (6), Kaitlyn Smith (5), Kathleen Strawn (3) and Natalie Murphy (2). Complete game statistics can be found below.
