2007-2008 U/S Girls Basketball Season In Review

Basketball TeamThe Varsity Girls Basketball team fought obstacles this year to attain a good season. The team ended the season with a 17-13 record, including 7-7 in district competition. The Lady Panthers finished in a tie for 5th place in the regular season standings. The girls were eliminated in a closely fought district tournament game to Hume-Fogg, 45-41.

The loss ended the careers of three outstanding seniors:

All three girls were a valuable asset to the team and the basketball program throughout their Middle School and varsity careers. Each of these girls will be missed.

Two Lady Panthers were awarded All-District recognition: Senior post player Mattie Jackson and Junior guard Kaitlyn Smith. In addition, Emily Canady surpassed 1,000 points for her FRA career early in the season.

The future for the girls program has great possibilities for success. The Lady Panthers will return nine girls as well as a good group of incoming freshman to generate momentum and a bright outlook for the program. The future will begin with summer camps including the annual trip to Wayne County."
