2004 Boys Cross Country Team

Coach Kevin Floyd is extremely proud of the effort put in by the 2004 cross country team. The boys faced challenges head on and once again prevailed as Region 6 Champions over cross town rivals Lipscomb. A week later, the streak of four consecutive State titles ended with a runner up finish to senior laden State Champion Elizabethton.

The 2004 squad was lead by four outstanding seniors. All State performers Logan Colbert and senior Co-Captain Kyle Mayo, along with senior Co-Captain Michael Heim and Jim Boyd, lead by encouragement and example. Junior runners, Russell Rodewald, Michael Bailey, and Chris Nau, along with Sophomore Kyle Patterson rounded out the State Runner Up team. In post-season recognition, senior Kyle Mayo and junior Russell Rodewald were named to the Nashville City Paper 2004 All Metro Cross Country Team.

Coach Floyd, “During past 6 seasons, FRA harriers have finished 1st or 2nd in the state meet, a feat which has yet to be matched on any level in TSSAA. I am proud of how this team came together this season. The guys really stepped up in region and state and left everything they had on the course. This was a team effort in every since of the word. It impressed me, the love and friendship the guys have for one another. They truly became a band of brothers and ran not for themselves, but rather, for the every other teammate. I will always treasure that aspect of this very special group for they exemplify team.”
