The 2007 golf season should be very exciting for both FRA girls and boys. The 2007 Boys Golf Team may be young, but they are very talented. In part, our success will depend on these young players to handle pressure. The team will consist of seven players: Senior Terry Jay, (a 3-year letterman), will rebound from 2006 and he will be our leader in 2007. Sophomore Tyler Smith will play the number one position. Tyler had a great year in 2006 when he advanced to the state and placed 11th overall; his game was even better this summer. Cris Goddard, Clay Goddard and Eric Warren will play the other three spots. They have all improved and had outstanding summer play. The other two team members are freshman Trey Brassfield and junior Wade Moss. This group of young men needs to stay focused, work hard and maintain good attitudes. I am confident that success will follow.
The 2007 Girls Golf Team will also be young. After graduating Ashley Lance, (a 5-year letterman and 2-time state champ), we have one experienced player. Freshman Mary Funk will be our only returning player. She will play number one and has really improved from the start of the 2006 season. Joining her will be eighth grader Andrea Cropper. I believe we can compete with other teams and our future is bright with these two young ladies.

During the off season, players are expected to work on their game and to spend time in the weight room. However, since many players participate in other sports, it is understood that their time may be limited. All golfers play during the summer months and are expected to play on the Junior Tour and in other tournaments starting in May. Fall practice begins August 1, 2007.
