FRANKLIN ROAD ACADEMY
POLICIES GOVERNING THE EDUCATIONAL
REIMBURSEMENT/LOAN

1. Educational Reimbursement/Loans are available to the faculty and staff of Franklin Road Academy. The maximum loan amount per year is the amount equivalent to two semester courses at the rate per graduate hour at a Tennessee State University per reimbursement/loan recipient.

2. Educational Reimbursement/Loans will be granted only after three years of service to Franklin Road Academy. An employee may apply annually after three years of service.

3. The number and amount of reimbursement/loans awarded will be determined by:
(a) the number of applicants,
(b) the total funds available, and
(c) the amounts of individual requests.
The needs of the academic program are also taken into consideration.

4. Applications for reimbursement/loans are available from the Division Secretary and the Academic Dean and should be submitted to the Division Dean no later than April 1 for the Fall semester and November 1 for the Winter semester.

5. Applications will be reviewed by the Division Dean.

6. In all cases, the course of study must be related to the employee’s role at Franklin Road Academy. Both the course to be taken and the educational institution must be approved by the Division Dean.

7. Franklin Road Academy will reimburse faculty members who receive reimbursement/loans for tuition and course fees. Reimbursement/loans will not pay for cost of books, supplies, registration, or parking. Reimbursement will be made at the conclusion of the course upon presentation of a copy of the fee receipt and a satisfactory grade report to the Division. Employees will receive payment for courses in which they earn a B or better.

8. Reimbursement/loans will be granted according to the following priority:
(a) To assist employees in meeting SACS accreditation standards.
(b) To assist employees seeking advanced degrees in their area of expertise.
(c) To those seeking certification from the state.
(d) Other educational needs of employees or school.

9. Needs of the school may require the Head of School to waive certain provisions of this program.
